Evaluation question 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?

To gain feedback of our music video, we presented our music video to our media class to see how they would react to the video. We filmed what they had to say about our music video, digi-pak and magazine advert as their feedback is important on telling us if we fitted the codes and conventions of a real video and also what bits they enjoyed the best/worse. Why they was watching the music video, we also asked them to complete a quick survey giving us their views of what they thought via www.surveymonkey.com. A second way we gained feedback was doing vox Pots were we interviewed people individual students to see ways we could improve our video and to hear their overall views. Below are all of our results and videos:

After we had done our editing, we created a rough cut of our music video. The rough cut was before we added any of our effects and all of our shots.

Deciding on Who's Magazine Advert & Digi-Pak we should use

As a group we all made an individual magazine advert so that we had an option of which ones will be best to choose from.
I created a questionnaire to give to people to fill out and decide who's magazine advert and Digi-Pak looks the best, you can see this questionnaire that i gave out underneath;

Questionnaire

Here is a bar chart of the results

As you can see from the results that the most popular option as Emilys magazine advert and here is the image:

I thought that i would make a little video of two characters talking about our album and choosing who's album cover is best. I used a website called "Go animate" . I have a girl who i made to be one of us from the girlband asking a man his opinion on the digipaks, here it is;
GoAnimate.com: Talking about what digipak to use by LaurenGorman

Like it? Create your own at GoAnimate.com. It's free and fun!

Below are videos of a few people which i interviewed asking them whos digi-pak we should use. Here are the images of each of our digipaks which they had to choose from.

Video Diary - Filming from 9th of Feb

Editing

Now that we have most of our filming done, we have now begun to edit our music video together in final cut express. We have had to go through all of our footage and decide which is the best parts to use and where they would fit best in the song. As we film we need to mute the music which we filmed too as you would be able to over hear this to the mp3 of the song which we are editing too as it is a higher quality.

Filming update

Over the weekend that has just gone, dates; 4th and 5th of February we was going to film our narrative scenes, however because of severe weather it stopped us from being able to film outside.
Today we are going to film our narrative scenes at Emilys house, using her bedroom and area as our setting. The filming footage we filmed at Kerrys from the 22nd of February we have decided not to use this footage no more as it is not very clear and we all agreed that it looks more like a home made video rather than a music video. Below is a clip of some of the footage from Kerrys;

Research into digi-paks

My next step after my magazine advert is to begin to create our digi-paks. As i am working in a group, we are individually going to create our own digi-paks and then choose which one will be the best. I decided to film my two cousins of what type of music they listen to and what type of album covers they would buy and why. Below are my videos:

In this video, Keeley talks about The Wanted's album and why she prefers it to Justin Biebers. She says that The Wanted album offers more to her as it contains more images, more information and has posters inside it. The Wanted album is a digi-pak which tells me that this comes to more of an interest to the audience as they are getting better value for their money as they have more to look at and read. I think that it is a very good idea that The Wanted have included extra posters inside their album as it means that their fans can keep these seperate from the album and could put them on their walls, this may make people want to buy this type of album rather than others. Below are some images of The Wanted digipak;

Here i have interviewed Kelsey who is a younger age of Keeley to ask her what she thinks of Dig-Paks. Kelsey states in this video that she does not really like Digi-paks as she thinks that their is too much contained into one thing. For example, some artists decide to do more than one CD in some of their digi-paks but kelsey said that she does not think that this is a good idea as the more CD's their are the more boring she finds them. I asked Kelsey what she would like to see in my digi-pak and she said more images than writing and bright colours as this would interest her more.

Photo shoot for digipak & magazine adverts

Tuesday 17th January 2012
Today, we went to our studio to do our photo shoot for our digipak and magazine advert. Below are some of the images which we took and will begin to edit in photoshop. We had to take a number of different images as we are a group so will all be using different images and to also make it look more interesting to our audience. Individually we will be making our own magazine adverts and then put them together to decide which one is the best one to use. We have got images from different angles, still images and moving images to add more of an affect.

Asking permission to film

As we are using actors in our music video which do not come to this school, we have to get permission to make sure that they are allowed on to our school premises.
Here is evidence that we emailed our media teacher to ask her if this would be okay and if she would be there for health & safety reasons.

Here is the email which i sent.

Here my teacher replied "ThaTs fine lauren, I will be here. J" This shows that we have been given the okay to get outside students into our school to be able to use them to film.

Meeting

Today, our group came together to discuss our important dates and schedule which we need to work towards. We have realised that we are working within a tight schedule so we all gave our thoughts in which we can do to make sure we meet our deadlines.

In our meeting, we went to book out our studio with our technician where we will be filming our performative scenes this wednesday. We told the technician what props & equipment we will be needing;

- Table
- Camera
- Tri-pod
- Microphone Stands
- Chair

On Wednesday we will be filming the performative scene which means that in the studio we should hopefully have our chorous scenes completed.
As the deadlines are tight, we realised we still needed to find 4 boys to be in our video.
Kerry found a friend of hers who said he will be happy to take part, to find the other boys, me and Chloe posted a status on facebook as this is where we could target our age range. We got responses from a friend called Anthony who said he will take part and also said he will ask his friends.

The next meeting, we will all begin filming but will be discussing what we need to do before we actually begin our shoot.
